Clay Faces! A Face Cup Tutorial with Joey Nuñez: Saturday October 30th, 11am-2pm
In this class, you will learn the basics of sculpting by making fun and expressive faces on pottery. Your instructor, local ceramic artist Joey Nuñez, will guide you in forming pinch cups and slab-built face cups.
During the workshop, you will learn techniques such as slipping & scoring, slab making, pinching, modeling, surface decoration and various altering tips for facial features. By the end of this workshop, you'll be able to add a smile or a grimace to any kind of pot you make!
Workshop will be in-person hosted at Saltstone Ceramics in the Wallingford Neighborhood of Seattle.
This workshop is appropriate for all levels of experience with clay and is open to students 13 and older.
The materials will be provided on-site. All firing services are include in cost, and instructor will glaze your pieces in a clear for you.
Joey Nuñez (he/him) is your friendly neighborhood ceramic artist. Born in Manhattan, New York, raised in Celebration, Florida and now based in Seattle, Washington. He has a BFA in Ceramics from The University of Florida and has been working in clay for 6 years. As a boy, he has always loved the feeling and responsiveness of clay. Endlessly passionate about making, his goal is for everyone to see the joy in creating handmade work.
