Hand-Built Planters with John Masello, June 18th, 2pm-5pm
During the workshop, students will learn several hand-building techniques to make a custom planter pot. Your instructor, local artist John Masello, will show the specific processes of pinching, coil building, and slab building, with a brief introduction to surface texture. Since these pieces will be made off the wheel, we will focus on making non-circular and asymmetrical forms.
This workshop is appropriate for all levels of experience with clay and is open to students 15 and older.
The materials will be provided on-site. All firing services are included in the cost, and the studio will finish your pieces in a glaze.
This workshop will be in-person hosted at Saltstone Ceramics in the Wallingford Neighborhood of Seattle.
John Masello is an interdisciplinary artist and educator currently based in Seattle, WA. John earned an MFA from The Ohio State University in 2020 and BFA from Illinois State University in 2016. John is currently a resident artist at Pottery Northwest and has been making collages and sculptures with ceramic, fabrics, and plastics. When John isn’t working in the studio, he is teaching ceramic classes at Redmond Art Works.
Workshop registration is time/class-specific and is non-refundable. If giving as a gift, please provide the contact information for the recipient in the purchase form.
