Kurinuki Box with Sarah Steininger Leroux Virtual Workshop March 22nd, 6-8pm
Learn to make rustic handmade boxes and trinket dishes using the Japanese method of Kurinuki or carving from a solid block of clay. In this workshop Sarah will teach you how to use the Kurinuki method to make a lidded box and a shallow dish perfect for storing jewelry, spices, or as a small catch-all.
This course is open to all skill levels. Previous experience in clay will be helpful, but is not necessary. This workshop is recommended for students 13 years and older.

Workshop will be held on Google Meet with closed captioning, and students are encouraged to follow along. Video will be sent a couple days after the class if you want to refer back to the content. This class includes all tools and materials. The kit includes:
- 2 lb of cone 6 clay
- Fettling Knife
- Serrated Steel Rib
- Loop Carving Tool
- Bisque and Glaze Firings as well as glazing service (must be able to deliver your finished mug to our Seattle studio - if you don't live in or near Seattle, we are happy to help you find another studio to fire your work.)
Kits will be available for shipping or pick up at our studio in Seattle 1 week before the class date you select. Select "local pick-up" at checkout to pick up your kit and save on shipping. If you'd like us to ship your kit, please order at least one week in advance to make sure your kit arrives in time.
