Printing on Clay Tumblers with Krista Cortese: September 18th 12pm-3:30pm
In this workshop, local ceramic artist Krista Cortese, will demonstrate the newsprint transfer method she uses to add colorful imagery and graphics to her cups!
In the first part of the class, you will learn how to hand-build a cup using slabs and templates. Then, using a combination of underglazes and slips, Krista will teach you the printmaking method she uses to transfer unique designs onto a cup or tumbler. Each student is encouraged to come with images or themes they want to explore.
Krista Cortese is a ceramic artist and educator working out of her home studio in North Seattle. She enjoys combining her love of painting, printmaking, and sculpture in the form of functional pots that celebrate the rituals of every day.
The workshop will be in-person hosted at Saltstone Ceramics in the Wallingford Neighborhood of Seattle.
This workshop is appropriate for all levels of experience with clay and is open to students 13 and older.
The materials will be provided on-site. All firing services are included in the cost, and the studio will glaze your pieces in a clear for you.
Workshop registration is time/class-specific and is non-refundable. If giving as a gift, please provide the contact information for the recipient in the purchase form.
