Krista Cortese (she/her) is a ceramic artist and educator making functional pottery out of her home studio in North Seattle. She is inspired by movement in the world around her; light and shadows moving with the sun, layers of textiles and the multiplicity of patterns that are formed from a simple line.
Each piece in this collection is part of an ongoing body of work that is constantly evolving. I enjoy exploring the complexities of overlapping patterns and lines that are found in weavings and textiles by using various forms of resist techniques. This collection started with a simple grid pattern and was reimagined into something else.
