Make Your Own Dinnerware Set with Sarah Steininger Leroux, 8/1 from 5-9pm, and 8/8, 8/22, and 8/29 from 6-9pm (4 days)
Show your unique style and make the perfect dinnerware set - something that perfectly fits your home and reflects who you are!
Join instructor, Sarah Steininger Leroux in making your own dinnerware set! Students will design and build bisque drape molds for three separate dinnerware forms and will use those molds to make a four place setting dinnerware set.
Students will learn techniques for making bisque molds and using those molds to make slab forms. Students will also learn limited coil and finishing techniques. Students will be encouraged to use open studio time outside of direct instruction time to finish work that they cannot finish in class.
This 4 day Workshop will be in-person hosted at Saltstone Ceramics in the Wallingford Neighborhood of Seattle. Workshop will be on 8/1 from 5-9pm, and 8/8, 8/22, and 8/29 from 6-9pm (4 days).
Sarah has a bachelor’s of arts degree in ceramics and sculpture from Goshen College in Goshen, Indiana, and a masters of fine arts degree in arts organizational leadership from Seattle University in Seattle, Washington. Sarah has a varied background in art and nonprofit work – working in two production ceramic studios, as an art center teacher, starting a small clothing design company, collaborating on a small arts fundraising organization, and working as a manager and director at several Seattle-area nonprofits for over fifteen years. Sarah founded Saltstone Ceramics, a community teaching studio and gallery in 2015, growing and nurturing it into a thriving community institution before selling it to her staff in 2023.
This workshop is appropriate for all levels of experience with clay and is open to students 15 years and older.
The materials will be provided on-site. All firing services are included in cost, and you will glaze your work in these sessions.
