Kurinuki Cups with Laura Skiles Bundy - April 4th, 2-6pm
Kurinuki is the Japanese method of carving a pot from a solid ball or block of clay. Translating to "hollow", this is a slower hand-building technique with satisfying results. In this workshop students will learn to make a cup by hollowing out interior space and refining the exterior with a variety of simple ceramic carving tools, knives and rasps. We will consider form, function, texture, and finishing. Suitable for all skill levels, Kurinuki is a very approachable and enjoyable process.
Students will be able to choose two pieces to fire. Glaze application will be done by Saltstone Ceramics, and is not included in this workshop.
This workshop is open to all levels and to students 16 and older.
Workshop registration is time/class specific and is non-refundable. If giving as a gift, please provide the contact information for the recipient in the purchase form.
