Spring VIRTUAL Hand-building: Monday Mornings, 9:00-11:00, April 26th-June 14th
Have you always dreamed of making beautiful pottery using traditional hand-building techniques? Our 8-week class is the perfect introduction to making your own functional pottery!
Our friendly, experienced instructors create a supportive atmosphere that encourages exploration and skill-building at your own pace. Through the course you’ll learn these essential techniques:
- use coiling, slab-building, and pinching techniques
- making basic forms like cups, bowls, platters, and vases
- trimming and finishing your pieces
- how to make and attach handles
- surface decoration and glazing
This class is virtual and will be held on Zoom. Each class session will be recorded, and students will have access to the recordings to revisit the instruction or if they have to miss a class. For local students, two classes (the 4th and 8th weeks) will be held in person at our Seattle studio as well as on Zoom so that students can use our selection of glazes and glaze equipment. For non-local students, or those who prefer to work from home, we will provide glaze recommendations.
Perfect for beginners and more experienced students alike! At the end of this 8-week class, you’ll come away with a new-found appreciation for this ancient art form, confidence in your new skills... and your very own handmade pottery!
Class tuition includes a tool and material kit with the following:
- 25lbs of cone 6 stoneware clay
