Throwing Big with Natasha Alphonse: August 21st 2pm-5pm
In this class, you will learn tips and techniques for throwing large-scale work on the pottery wheel. Your instructor, local ceramic artist Natasha Alphonse, will go over how to throw large-scale serving bowls, platters, and tall vases. Natasha will teach you how to focus on form and utilize your body over muscle to throw pots up to ten pounds.
This workshop will be in-person hosted at Saltstone Ceramics in the Wallingford Neighborhood of Seattle.
Prior experience with beginner-level wheel throwing is necessary for this class. This class is open to students 18 years and older.
The materials will be provided on-site. All firing services are included in the cost, and the studio will glaze your pieces in white for you.
Natasha Alphonse is a Seattle-based artist, making functional ceramics that are minimal and earthy. She is a First Nations artist, from the Dene tribe and comes from Northern Saskatchewan. Her work pulls from her visual background of the landscape and childhood memories of mossy rocks, snowy landscapes, water, and the quiet wilderness.
Workshop registration is time/class-specific and is non-refundable. If giving as a gift, please provide the contact information for the recipient in the purchase form.
