Grant Ederer

Artist Statement

Grant Ederer (he/him) is a ceramicist working in Akron, Ohio. His background in industrial design informs the functional and sculptural characteristics of his craft. He explores marbling and surface alteration methods in a way that demonstrates the common geometry underlying both natural and manmade patterns and forms.

About the work

The forms of this collection reflect the simplicity in curvature and smoothness of riverstones, while the surface treatment captures a chaotic slice of liquid geological time on an intimate scale. Altogether they tell the tumultuous earthen history of that one immaculate pebble you brought home from the beach with you.
