Spring Hybrid Handbuilding and Wheel: Thursday Mornings, 9:30am - 12:30pm, March 27th - May 15th
Have you taken a beginning ceramics class and want to take your skills to the next level? This 8-week Hybrid class is perfect for those ready to explore both throwing on the potter’s wheel and handbuilding techniques in a single course!
Our supportive instructors will guide you through a variety of projects designed to build your confidence and creativity. Whether you’re interested in focusing on one method or learning to combine the two, this class will help you elevate your ceramic work.
Skills and techniques covered in this class include:
- Throwing more complex forms like lidded containers or altered shapes
- Handbuilding techniques such as slab construction, coiling, and sculptural elements
- Combining wheel-thrown and handbuilt components
- Experimenting with textures and surface decoration
- Glazing and finishing techniques
Students enrolled in this class will also enjoy access to the studio during designated Open Studio times, giving you extra opportunities to practice and refine your skills.
By the end of this class, you’ll have a broader skillset, new approaches to creativity, and several unique pieces to take home. Come explore the endless possibilities of ceramics!
And the fine print:
- While this class is geared towards people who have taken a ceramics course before, everyone is welcome.
- Our beautiful studio has just about everything you need, except for a simple set of pottery tools. Bring your own or purchase one of pottery essentials sets available at the studio on your first day of class.
- One bag of clay is included as part of your tuition. Any clay after that, will be $20 per bag.
- While we highly recommend that you attend all sessions in a series in order to get the most out of the class, we also understand that you may need to miss a class. If this is your first time at our studio, please make sure you are able to attend your first class date.
