Pottery Ribs by Ruby Pear Woodworks
Each of these wooden ribs is handmade right here in Seattle! This is a collaboration with Saltstone's Creative Director, Sarah Steininger Leroux. She works with Ruby Pear to create templates that are useful in a wide variety of pottery tasks.
Steve from Ruby Pear then uses a variety of locally-sourced, domestic, and imported woods to create beautiful tools that are a pleasure to work with.
The elongated center hole provides a positive ergonomic grip for doing controlled shaping. Each piece is finished with mineral oil and beeswax. Use sandpaper to re-establish the edge as needed; rub with butcher block oil to restore the shine.
Choose from a variety of domestic, imported, and locally-sourced woods, including Maple, Walnut, Purpleheart, Yellowheart, Padauk (red), Jatoba (warm brown), Pear (pale brown), and "domestic" (pale orange; a mix of cherry, red birch, and western maple).
