Sisters Slipworks
One summer long ago I saddled a Fuji touring bicycle and rode from my historic hometown of Lexington, Massachusetts to San Francisco. Consequently, I've spent most of my adult life on the west coast of the United States. After completing an undergraduate Ceramics degree at California College of the Arts, Oakland, I earned an MFA degree at Carnegie Mellon University. Lifted by the pandemic-era wave, dubbed the Great Resignation, I left my 10-year career as full-time faculty in the Visual Art program at Central Oregon Community College. Since 2022 I have devoted my time and energy to my practice as a ceramic artist in Sisters, Oregon.

I pay special attention to the rounded profile lines of my formations, referencing the human body; its fleshy curves and bulges. I continue to experiment with proportion and scale, formal design elements that, when carefully manipulated, can emphasize the sensuality of a form or forms. See more at billcravis.com.
