Ceramic Instruments with Jem Tong, August 14 from 1 - 4pm
Finally, a class that combines the worlds of clay form and musical function! Join your instructor, Jem Tong, in the creation of making beautiful clay flutes and ocarinas where you will be taught the secrets behind hand carved wind instruments.
Whether you're a seasoned artist seeking a new avenue of expression or a complete beginner eager for a creative adventure, this class welcomes you with open arms. Don't worry if you've never touched clay or played a note before—this class is designed for anyone with a passion for art and music.
This all-levels class is recommended for students 15 years and older. The pottery wheel will not be used in this workshop.
The materials will be provided on-site. All firing services are included in cost, and an instructor will glaze your pieces in a clear for you.
Jem Tong (they/them): Hi! My name is Jem Tong. Pottery is my home medium but I enjoy dabbling in just about everything else. My personal work is mainly in clay instruments and moving, dynamic carvings. I have taught since 2022 in CA and WA, and been touching clay since 2014: I love sharing the grounding nature of shaping things with your own hands and meeting so many cool people that pottery attracts.
