Vaccination Requirements for Classes

Steve Leroux

Starting October 25th, King County regulations will require businesses like ours to check proof of vaccination before folks can use the studio.

This policy applies to all students in our classes, workshops, open studio, private lessons and one-night Clay Curious classes.

This only applies to folks using the studio; visitors to our gallery and retail shop aren't required to show any documentation (but do need to wear a mask).

Documentation

All students will be asked to show proof of vaccination status of either a two-dose mRNA vaccine (Moderna or Pfizer), or a single dose vaccine (Johnson & Johnson). All forms of proper documentation must be shown alongside a valid ID. We can accept the following forms of documentation:

  • Physical paper copy of vaccination card.
  • A photo of the vaccination card as a separate document or stored on a phone.
  • Electronic health records from a healthcare provider,

Washington State is working on a system to streamline proof of vaccination status or COVID-negative status, and we'll update this page when those systems are available to us.

Exceptions

The only exceptions to this are children under 12, people with a medical condition(s), and/or people with sincere religious beliefs that prohibit them from receiving vaccinations.

All individuals who fall under this category must provide proof of a negative Covid-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours of the class or open studio they plan to attend.

We're Still Masking

Our mask policy is still firmly in place for all students and customers until regulations are lifted. Masks are required any time you are in the Saltstone Ceramics building.

We appreciate everyone of you for making the necessary efforts to keep our small business thriving and continuing to keep our larger community safe.

Frequently Asked Questions

When does this take effect? King County regulations require us to make these checks no later than October 25th, but we might start asking for records earlier to take some of the load off our staff.

Do I need to show proof every time? Everyone needs to check in at the front desk when they get to the studio. But once you show us proof of vaccination, we'll make a note in our system and you won't need to show us again. If you're unvaccinated and showing us a negative COVID test, you'll need to show a recent (within 72 hours) test every time you use the studio.

What counts as a religious exemption? We're required to check your documentation, not your conscience, so we're not going to weigh in here. If you're unwilling to get vaccinated, you should get a COVID test before you attend your next class/workshop/open studio session.

Does this apply to staff? Everyone who has independent access to the studio, including management, staff and members, is fully vaccinated.
