The Beige Motel

The Beige Motel is the ongoing creative project of PNW native, Ashley Campbell. Originally, The Beige Motel was an outlet for Ashley’s exploration in textiles, but in recent years she has became enamored/obsessed with all things clay! Ashley is interested in exploring textures and our relationship with tactile objects. Much like cloth, the way a ceramic piece feels in your hand can create a unique relationship. As a hand builder, Ashley purposely leaves her finger marks in the clay as a reminder of the hands that created them. She also has been exploring the use of pigments to color clay and uses this technique to create colorful & abstract motifs in her pieces. In her spare time she enjoys tending to her indoor/outdoor garden and hanging out with her two cats - Ponytail & Meatball. (she/her)
