My current body of work illuminates a personal narrative of undertaking struggles with body image, obesity and admiration for desirable snacks! It’s always been a subject I’ve joked about with levity as it creates a relationship to the larger paradigm of food culture and consumerism. My sculptural works target excessive foods that occupy and separate us from healthy lifestyles. Their playful compositions, illustrative designs and artificial color palettes invite the viewer to participate in an immediate source of joy. The deceptive aspects of these highly addictive high-calorie snacks can overthrow our desires and greed begins to take precedence over our health. My functional work responds to the simple-eye catching packaging aspects in these convenience foods. The overall sense of design creates an intense vibration and movement that seduces the viewer into consumption. (he/him)
