Hayley Reed

Hayley Reed was raised in Houston, Texas, and received their Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2018. They are currently living in Seattle, Washington - the traditional land of the Duwamish People, the first people of Seattle. Hayley makes pottery from their home studio and works as the marketing assistant and as a pottery instructor for Deborah Schwartzkopf at Rat City Studios and Rain City Clay. Hayley makes primarily hand-built functional pottery and has been exploring digital design and fabrication methods to 3D print forms to assist them in their hand-building process. Hayley layers color and texture to their pots often adding sprigs and clay protrusions to create dimensional and texturally engaging surfaces.
