Lilly Powell

Lilly Powell (She/They) received her BFA from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio, and completed Post Baccalaureate studies at Indiana University Southeast in New Albany, Indiana. She is currently the Ceramic Studio Technician at Belger Crane Yard Studios in Kansas City, Missouri. Powell’s creative practice includes mixed-media sculpture and functional ceramics, plus lots of literary research to fuel the two.

Statement

Powell loves using contrast when designing forms; pairing crisp silhouettes with a pinched texture, and leaving areas of raw clay next to a glossy surface. Her pots are handbuilt, often utilizing press molds.
