Akemi is originally from Japan. It wasn’t until she was in her late 60’s that she discovered ceramics and her taste has matured as she has. She can focus on her ceramics according to her abilities and at her own pace. She prefers simple shapes that easily communicate their purpose. Her work focuses on pieces that are useful in everyday life. Although they are simple, you are drawn to them. This is the type of ceramics that she wants to continue exploring.
