Chris Hosbach

Chris Hosbach (he/him) creates ceramics that are primarily functional and meant to be used and appreciated daily. He enjoys making functional work because of the added layer of personal connection between the artist and the end user. Chris prefers to work in porcelain and is drawn to its softness and strength. Surface decoration has become the focus of Chris’ work. Custom vinyl stencils are created for each piece he produces. Having an interest in graphic design, pattern making, and technology, this process allows him to heavily utilize all three. Vibrant and colorful transparent glazes add extra depth to the finished piece through the interplay with various underglazes and stains. Exploration of new interactions between ceramic materials and the unexpected surprises revealed are few of the reasons Chris continues to work in this style. Chris is currently living in Taos, NM with his cat Paco.
