Collection: Sarah Steininger Leroux

My ceramics practice started over 25 years ago when I worked for a
potter in my hometown in Palmer Lake, Colorado. Since then, I
completed a bachelor’s of arts degree in ceramics and sculpture
from Goshen College in Goshen, Indiana, and a masters of fine arts
degree in arts organizational leadership from Seattle University in
Seattle, Washington.

I have a varied professional background in art and nonprofit work –
working in two production ceramic studios, as an art center teacher,
starting a small clothing design company, collaborating on a small
arts fundraising organization, and working as a manager and director
at several Seattle-area nonprofits for over fifteen years.
In 2015, I founded Saltstone Ceramics, a community teaching studio
and gallery, growing and nurturing it into a thriving community
institution with national recognition. In 2023 I sold Saltstone
Ceramics to my staff.

Today I teach wheel-throwing and hand-building classes and
workshops at Seattle-area studios and make small batch functional
ceramics as well as ceramic sculpture.(she/her)
