Standard Mortar and Pestle by Sarah Steininger Leroux
The Mortar and Pestle has been extensively tested in our kitchen and proven its durability and grinding powers. We make everything from dry rubs for meats to garlic and herb pastes for salad dressings and dips. The interior is unglazed allowing the stony texture of the ceramic to effortlessly do all the work. The mortar is 3.5 inches tall and 5.5 inches in diameter and holds up to 1 pint. The pestle is approximately 4 inches long.
Both styles are reduction fired in a gas kiln for subtle surface effects and variety. "White" comes with a spout. Ash is our special "pistachio ash cream" glaze, made from wood ash and featuring a light, speckled, mint-gray surface with faint purple blushes.
