The Introverted Potter
I was introduced to clay during my time in undergrad at Fresno State University, California. I had the opportunity to take one intro to ceramics class. I loved clay but I decided that I would take the opportunity to explore other art mediums. I took classes for glass blowing, metal pouring, sculpture, drawing, and any art class that seemed interesting. I completed my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Art with an emphasis on sculpture. Followed by moving to Seattle, Washington to complete my master's in Couples and Family Therapy, and Art Therapy at Antioch University in Belltown.
In 2020, I was preparing to graduate and uncertain of my future during a chaotic time because of the pandemic. Fortunately, I came across a post by The Clay Corner offering Diversity Scholarships. I applied and was lucky enough to have the opportunity to learn from skilled teachers and fall in love with clay. Clay quickly took over my life and my love for it has only continued to grow.
Today, I am preparing to open my own practice with an emphasis on Art Therapy through clay work starting in mid November, ArtHouse Therapy. I am using the practice to incorporate my love for clay and my love for emotions. I am still an active member at The Clay Corner and I currently teach wheel throwing once a week at Of The Earth Collective.
