Looking to deepen your skills in a short but focused format? Join us this August for a 2 week, 4 session pottery intensive designed for dedicated makers who want to work on throwing larger and make a beautiful dinnerware set. At the end of the intensive, students should leave with 2 plates, 2 bowls, and 2 cups!
This accelerated course will meet twice a week for two weeks, with each class running 3 hours. Students should come prepared with prior wheel experience and the ability to center at least three pounds of clay.
What to Expect:
Day 1: Introduction to Project 8/17
Planning our your dinnerware set, with a focus on centering large and maintaining consistent, even walls.
Day 2: Project continuation 8/20
Demo #2 and continuation of project.
Day 3: Trimming & Finishing Touches 8/24
Focus on trimming techniques, foot styles, and surface preparation.
Day 4: Glazing 8/27
Wrap up with glaze demos and application techniques to highlight your work. Learn strategies for layering, and finishing your work as well as glazing large work.
By the end of this intensive, you should walk away with experience in throwing large and refined your skills in consistency.
And the fine print:
- While this class is geared towards intermediate students, everyone is welcome.
- Our beautiful studio has just about everything you need, except for a simple set of pottery tools. Bring your own or purchase a simple kit from us on the first day of class.
- The first bag of clay is included in your class, after that each bag is sold separately.
- We highly recommend that you attend all sessions in a series in order to get the most out of the class.
- Open studio access during gallery hours.
