Unlock your creativity in this in-depth intensive where we’ll explore the art of bringing creatures to life in clay. You’ll learn techniques for sculpting realistic textures like feathers, fur, and scales, as well as how to approach stylization.
This accelerated course will meet twice a week for two weeks, with each class running 3 hours. Students should come prepared with prior clay experience. You’ll learn techniques for sculpting different anatomy of animals, realistic textures like feathers, fur, and scales, as well as how to approach stylization.
We’ll combine demos, hands on practice, and plenty of room for experimentation to help you develop these new sculpting techniques. Whether you’re new to sculpture or looking to refine your craft, this class is designed to inspire and challenge you.
Hi! My name is Jem Tong. Pottery is my home medium but I enjoy dabbling in just about everything else. My personal work is mainly in clay instruments and moving, dynamic carvings. I have taught since 2022 in CA and WA, and been touching clay since 2014: I love sharing the grounding nature of shaping things with your own hands and meeting so many cool people that pottery attracts.
